What kind of alerts can I receive?

Currently you can receive alerts for new Profile Comments, Mail, and Sayings from your friends.

How do I set up alerts?

By default, you will receive alerts for all new profile comments, and all new mail. You can also choose to "follow" your friends to receive an alert whenever they post a new saying.

To change these settings at any time, visit your Mobile Settings. Your main options will include:

You will only receive alerts instantly on your mobile if you don't have Review ALL comments set in your Account Preferences.

How do I subscribe to friend sayings?

Go to the Mobile Settings page and select Subscribe to my Top 16. You can also type in your friend's nickname and select Subscribe to subscribe to a specific friends' sayings.

Can I reply to alerts?

Yes! If the alert's message fits in one SMS, simply reply back via SMS with your own message.

If the alert's message does NOT fit in one SMS, you cannot reply back via SMS - you will receive a link to view the message on the mobile site, and you can reply to it there.

How can I turn off alerts?

From the Web: just sign in to Bebo.com and open the Mobile tab. Here you can control all your alerting preferences including turning off all alerts.

From the phone: send STOP to 22326.

How do I upload mobile photos?

Easy! Just send your photos via MMS to 22326. To set a caption for the photo, just include a Subject in the MMS/Picture Message.

By default, all photos uploaded via mobile will go into a special "Mobile Photos" album. From there you can copy mobile photos into any other album just like any other photo uploaded to Bebo.

Be sure to enable your Mobile Uploads Module so your friends can see your new uploads on your Profile!

What kind of texts can I send to Bebo?

You can send texts to 22326 to post new sayings, post profile comments, send mail, and post blogs. Each feature has its own command. A table of commands you can send is shown below:

Command Example Description
say <text> say hello Post Saying
comment <nick> <msg> comment jill hi! im txting from bebo mobile! Post Comment to friend's profile
mail <nick> <msg> mail bill bebo mobile is schweet! lol! Send Mail to friend
blog <msg> blog wow! i'm posting from my mobile! Post to your Blog
stop stop Stop all alerts :(

The nickname is a short name you can give to your friends, so you don't have to type in their full username on the phone. See the nicknames section below for more details.

Are there any shortcuts/advanced features for texting?

Yes. To save time, instead of typing out the full command you can simply enter the first letter of each command.

For example, the command to post a saying is "say".

This works for profile comment ("c"), mail ("m"), and blog ("b") as well.

How do I use the "Nicknames" feature?

Nicknames are a handy way to let you send messages to your Bebo friends via text, without having to type in their full usernames. When you verify your phone number and activate Bebo Mobile for the first time, default nicknames are given to all your friends. You can update these default nicknames at any time from the Edit Nicknames page: Bebo Homepage -> Bebo Mobile -> Mobile Settings -> Edit Nicknames.

Nicknames must be unique, meaning that every single friend of yours must have a different nickname. Nicknames can be from 1-15 characters and cannot contain any spaces or special characters - only lower-case letters (a-z) and numbers (0-9) are allowed. Special characters are fun until you have to type them in on your phone!!
