"Computers run on smoke, when the smoke comes out, they quit running!"

Hello all, my name's Keith, and I'm currently 22 years old and living in Cambridgeshire. For those curious my profile name (Brollachan) comes from a character from Knightmare.

By my own admission I can be shy, and at times quiet, though can also go to the other extreme. I dare say some may also consider me to be weird, and they're probably right. At times I can seem a tad camp, and I've also been called evil a few times.

Some may know me from my involvement with the local football club. Some may know me from being involved in performing arts, as I'm involved in a local group (RTC), and follow spot for shows. Others may know me from a certain pub where I can often be found on Saturdays.

Just thought I'd mention I often provide a tea & coffee making service to those who ask. Tea and dark choccie biscuits... ..yum. :)

Music
'Weird Al' Yankovic, have a search on youtube if you've not heard of him. Madness are another favourite of mine.
Films
The 'Airplane' and 'Naked Gun' films and their sequels, Leslie Nielsen being a common link. The Pink Panther set of films have a similar sort of humour to them.
Sports
Though I'm involved with St Neots Town F.C. I don't watch a lot of the matches. I'm usually found preparing the half time teas & coffees for officials on 1st team matches. Check out http://www.stneotsfc.com, I designed and maintain the site. :)
Scared Of
Death, it scares the living daylights out of me. Thunder and lightning still makes me a bit nervous, though working in a big metal building I've rather had to get used to it, and try to to be leaning against any metal during storms. Spiders I don't mind generally, there's often some on the ceiling in the bathroom, they tend to avoid my bedroom these days, maybe I'm too lazy to get them out of rooms.
'The IT Department'
At work 'the IT Department' is essentially just me, fixing computer related problems and maintaining the various websites. At home I've built my own computer along with my parents, may well be building another soon for someone else. Most of my computer/website 'skills' are self taught from hands on experience, I loose concentration with books.
A random quote...
"This is my costume, I'm a homicidal maniac, they look like everyone else." - Wednesday Addams.
Anything else?
Thinking sceptically and at times you're closer to the truth. Try to find the positive and give yourself something to look forward. When something is on your mind get help, don't keep quiet. Falling down stairs really hurts.

The weekend
I thought I'd do another weekend summary with this entry, as the working week is rather dull and I try not to blog about it.

Saturday I managed to get up at a reasonable time and for once went into town. I try to avoid Saturday shopping if I can however whilst picking up one pair of shoes I brought another. In the afternoon I was at the football club by the entrance in my 'glamorous' reflective jacket, in my role of stating the obvious (being near a 'car park full' sign). Whilst it was rather wet I don't mind as I get to chat to those arriving to watch the match. For the curious the result was St Neots Town 3, Newport Pagnell 0, in the first league match of the season.

In the evening I was at the Falcon taking part in karaoke and chatting to a few people I know. Inevitably you get the one or two prats (to put it politely/mildly), one of whom decided whilst I was singing 'It must be love' (Madness) to initially stand about a metre in front of me and just stare, before then kissing me on the cheek. Now whilst I don't have a problem with hugging people (be it male or female) when it comes to people I've not met / spoken to before kissing me (in this case a male) I'm not particularly comfortable with it. In my mind I felt like telling this person to 'go away' (well something strong to that effect), however I opted to ignore it and turn to another monitor to continue singing. Fortunately the DJ's wife (presumably spotting this persons antics) indicated for him to sit next to her, unfortunately that was were I had been sitting, and the prat knocked over my pint and spilt what was left in it (less than an 1/8 I think). I opted to wait near the DJ's desk before he'd gone, as I didn't wish to speak to the prat and wasn't going to loose it in the pub, the DJ wasn't too impressed either as one of his song books had got soaked too. Anyhow ignoring that I had a good evening and that's all that matters.

So on to today, and it was a late breakfast for me at 11am, and thankfully no hangover due to drinking carefully the night before. The carefulness was due to me (along with my parents) going off to Thurleigh for some more scuba diving training. I think I may have mentioned it before however I'm currently doing a Padi course, and I'm getting the confined water stuff done before I go on holiday, and hope to do an open water dive (or two) in Australia. I'm getting rather used to having foreign objects in mouth, and my that I mean my regulator and snorkel, though gripping them does ache a bit after a while. The buoyancy jacket does squeeze you rather tightly when fully inflated. Also had the fun of having to do full mask floods (ie. it fills up with water and has to be cleared) and breathing through a buddy's emergency regulator (I can't think of the proper term off hand). Though we had a tea break I was there for just over four hours. After we'd finished we drove up to Risely to visit 'The Five Bells', a pub now owned by a landlady I know well. After a pint and a half along with some chatting we returned home.

Well that pretty much sums up the weekend for me, and now I'm off to bed.

Past week and stuff
Last Thursday I went for a 'try dive' in one of the nearby villages. This was to decide whether I wanted to take a Padi diving course. As in order to complete the course two open water dives are required I'll only have a 'referral' when I go to Australia in September. I first tried scuba diving whilst on a Scout camp in a freezing cold pool about 10 years ago, and then a couple times a few years later whilst out in Kefalonia. Not breathing through your nose and using a mouthpiece to breath compressed air can take a bit of getting used to, however I enjoyed it. The only side affect was that it makes you rather thirsty, and this was apparent by the rate at which I drank my pint when stopping at a pub on route home.

On Friday whilst in another pub (this time in town) I caught up with someone I hadn't seen since school. By his own admission he was someone who had messed up in school, however from talking I rather admire how he appears to have turned his life around. He's since retaken his GCSEs, has a full driving licence, and is off to Afghanistan in the army. Whilst messing about in school isn't something to be encouraged it shows with determination you can still turn things around.

Saturday was notable for it's rain during the morning and part of the afternoon. From talking to someone (whom I know) the previous night I gather the majorettes were performing in the Riverside Park. Seeing how heavy it rained I feel sorry for them, I certainly wouldn't want to be stuck out in the pouring rain.

Finally I met a very happy person today whilst in the pub. I hope that their happiness wasn't on a quota system, as a lot of happiness was present. Still it's always good to be happy and smile every so often.

Catching up from the past month
Well the past month has been a rather busy one, at least at weekends. I thought I'd take a look back over them.

So lets roll back to around to just before 21st June. On Friday 20th June there was the club's official opening. In the week leading up to this I spent a few evenings along with others sorting various bits out. On the day it was smart dress (there is a photo online of me in shirt + tie + jacket), drinks and lunch. Off-hand in the evening I stayed at home (not wishing to drink more), though Saturday I was out in town.

The following week on Friday 27th June there was the Rolling Stones gig at the football club. I really enjoyed watching & listening to them, the costumes were fitting. I didn't get around to using my glow stick, purchased after the 'hard sell' by Thea & Liam ;) , I think it's somewhere in my room. The next day was a long one, as along with my dad I was at the Gransden Blues & Souls gig (you may have seen me wearing the t-shirt). For many years now my dad has sorted out the power supply from the marquee to the pavilion. These days it's a fairly simple process and two generators are also used, compared to once where everthing ran off an extension lead which had a nail in it instead of a fuse. Towards the end of the concert I rested in my dad's van whilst the loud music continued, I think I may have even fallen asleep. Once the concert was over we had to disconnect the power and return the cables to their 'storage location'.

The next week from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th was Godspell. I must admit during the tech I had slight doubts as to how the show would go, perhaps as techs tend to be stop-start & skip a bit. Come show time though it was brilliant and I was very impressed with how well everyone did. Speaking to other people they were equally impressed, including a former teacher I know (who can still recall pupil's names from over 10 years ago when I was in year 6). For me the worst bit was during one bit of follow spotting on the Sunday when I had a bad coughing fit due to swallowing some water the wrong way, thankfully with a tightened spot I was able to take my hands off it (whilst the light was in use) and it didn't move (nor did the performers). For reference I tend to stand behind the spot, with my left hand on a side handle by some shutters, my right hand is on a handle at the back. Unrelated in the evenings when at the Falcon the land-lady informed me that she was in the process of moving pubs, taking over a new one Tuesday and running this one until Green King buy her out.

So onto this weekend and what's gone on. Well Friday night I was down at the Falcon to watch a keyboard-singer (is there a proper word?) called 'Brian G.' perform. I've seen him perform a few times now, and I quite enjoy it. Two young ladies I know where trying to get me join in dancing with them. Now I struggle to dance at the best of times, after three pints whilst I perhaps have more energy / less hesitation my dancing still isn't any better. Anyhow I tried and had a laugh before going home at gone midnight. Yesterday was rather busy at it was the football club's first pre-season friendly, against Kettering. In the afternoon I was out by the ground entrance in a hi-vis jacket, the main car park was full by 1:30pm and the overflow by about 2:15pm. At kick-off I went in and after changing to shirt & tie to watch the match. The reason for changing to smarts was so that I could go into the board room at half time. In the evening it was a return to town for the fun of a bit of karaoke.

So that's pretty much the past month summaries, and quite some time spent writing this entry. Who knows what the next few weekends will have in store.

"Hello IT..."
My DVDs finally arrived today, which included series 2 of the IT Crowd, hence the subject title. I couldn't be bothered to make a new blog entry to say this, nor was it really worth writing it in my 'sayings' box, hence I've mentioned it here.
