I signed up to Bebo in about 2005. Back then it was a place to store your name and address (and other contact details); adding your mates would share your details with them - like a social address book. It was similar to Ringo.com

Sites like these were a bit spammy, but could be useful. Elsewhere on the net, sites like MySpace were becoming popular so Bebo and Ringo decided they should expand. Ringo went the way of photo-sharing, like Flickr.com - Bebo went the way of MySpace and turned into a full-on social networking site.

Bebo became really spammy and I kept receiving crap emails off them. In about 2006, I decided to delete my account. Today (being July 2007), I've signed up again so I can view other people's profiles.
